Rafting in Himachal


Himachal Pradesh is the perfect destination for white water river rafting. Snow-fed water of the untamed rivers makes this adventure more challenging and hilarious. The upper Himalayas Rivers are best in the world for river rafting sports with various challenging rapids in different grades. Famous rivers for rafting in Himachal are the Satluj near Shimla, the Chenab in Lahaul, the Ravi near Chamba and the Beas near Kullu offer immense white water rafting possibilities. There are enormous river rafting expedition opportunities between Shamshi and Aut on the Beas. This is 20kms river rafting stretch having full excitement and utmost white water rapids. Now the possibilities for rafting are also being explored on the river Spiti.

River Rafting in Himachal Pradesh is not possible during monsoon and winter season. Non swimmers can also enjoy river rafting. There are some points for low grade rapids. Those are complete safe; children can also enjoy rafting activity there.

Life jackets, helmets, paddles and rescue cord are the main rafting equipments. Proper wearing for river rafting is swimsuit, nylon shorts, tennis shoes or sandals and a hat. Avoid cotton wearing.

Rafting Package in Kullu / Manali : White water river rafting is possible in Beas River at Manali. Beas river good for white water rafting, Kayaking, canoeing and other water sports. Rafting Spot at Manali: Pirdi down (4kms ahead of Kullu) to Jhiri section near Bajaura in Kullu district. This 15kms rafting distance having grade II and grade III rapids. Pirdi is 45kms far from Manali.

Best Season : Mid April to June and October to November.
